Back in the Saddle

Now that I am employed full time once again I am going to make sure my free time is well-spent.

I practiced in front of the football games today for several hours, and plan to make playing my guitar as important as working out.

4 Days and Counting...

I haven't put my guitar in its soft bag all week, and today is the 4th day in a row I've practiced.

Yesterday I only played off & on for an hour or so after I got home around 3pm from Rhode Island, but today I got in several hours of work on most of the songs I decided to learn back when I was taking lessons. I am regaining muscle memory and dexterity, and I am loving it. In fact even though I worked from home today, most of it was processed through the left side of my brain. I also produced "Birches 1" at my easel. It is acrylics on canvas, and I had a blast moving from room to room, trading off between my guitar and my paint brushes. Three cheers for momentum!

And Today Makes Two...

...days in a row. Only an hour, but that's much preferable to a day missed!

Gasp!

Hey, look who spent several hours practicing his guitar today...
That's right, this-guy-right-here!
3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
Sweet.

WPMF2

The music festival I produce on the last Saturday of July each year has come and gone. It was a resounding success.

This year there was a generator for microphones, and it allowed for a bass guitar for the first two acts, and keyboards for the second. Check out the official blog here, and see below for a selection of photos from the five performances:
The performers from top to bottom are:
  1. Elizabeth Lorrey (with Kris Lucander on bass)
  2. The Rafters (Miki & Dave, with Glenn on keyboards)
  3. Almanac Mountain
  4. Vanessa Kafka
  5. Abbie Barrett
If you ever get the chance to see any (or all) of these amazing musicians live I highly recommend it. Meanwhile, the 2nd Annual Wyman's Pond Music Fest was even better than the inaugural year's event!

Hmmm

"Is The Universe trying to tell me something (he asked again)?"

I went to a local music store to try to sell my guitar, and in my head I had a bare minimum amount that I wanted to get for it, but when I brought it in, the guy told me that in order to make a profit, the store could only offer me thirty dollars. he was kind enough to show me current eBay auctions for my model, and suggested I try to sell it there on my own.

I guess I'm keeping it!

Longevity

After having the idea in my head for the last week or so (it popped into my head as I listened to my Real School compilation cd on the way home fro Manchester Airport last Thursday) I finally got the bulk of the writing for my original song "Longevity" down on paper in one 15-minute burst of creativity.

It's about how it should be okay to not always be in a relationship, or go from girlfriend to girlfriend without a break in between.

I'll be working out the music and polishing up the lyrics over the next few months (or quicker, depending on my inspiration)...

Howdy Stranger

I'd been trying to sell my guitar on Craigslist recently because I never use it, but after three attempts no one has shown any serious interest. I guess the universe wants me to keep it...
